" HOW DID THE FIG TREE WITHER SO QUICKLY ? "

Hello all, as I was reading the Word of God and the reference of the fig tree just leaped off the pages. I feel very confident that most of us have heard or read this account many times. I went to my dictionary and looked up the word " WITHER " : to wither is to shrivel from, or as if from loss of bodily moisture and esp. sap (2) : To lose or cause to lose vitality, force, or freshness (3) : To cause to feel shriveled.

All things are possible with God, so when Jesus commanded the fig tree to never bear fruit again immediately the tree withered. Do you have the faith to take command of the authority that has been given to you? If you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but anything. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer. I believe that the withering fig tree was yet another teachable moment for Jesus. I'm of the school of thought that, if you don't use what the good Lord has given you, iit just might be taken from you. So, what the Lord has invested in you it's vital that you put in to service for him. Don't be like the servant who didn't invest the talents that his employer left in His care. Even thought He was given one talent, all he chose to do was to bury it, conceal it. The fig tree was called upon to produce the gift that he was given and did not.

It's my prayer that I will be ready and able to yield what talent the Lord has blessed me with. The fig tree is a popular source of an inexpensive food in Israel, that requires three years from the time they are planted until they can bear fruit. Each of these tree's can yield
an abundance of fruit twice per year, in late Spring and in early Autumn. The figs normally grows as the leaves fill out, but this tree, though full of leaves had none. Don't be like this tree spiritually barren. Just as the fig tree looked good from a distance it was fruitless on closer examination. if you appear to have faith without putting it to work in your life, you are like the fig tree that failed when it came time to bloom.

Until Next Time...

Jim
